*default assignment: like it's 1999 [see intro]

With critical intent, update one or more of the following [or other] conventions of photographic practice
to be pertinent to this millenium:

• the portrait
• the landscape
• the nude
• the still-life
• the documentary image
• the family album
• the classificatory, scientific, or medical image
• bureaucratic photography
• surveillance photography

• war photography
• the photographic record of paranormal activity
• advertising & publicity
• the fashion shoot
• production stills
• photo-journalism
• art photography
• pornography
[etc: see talks]

Your work may be full of hope for the future & disdain for the past, vice-versa, neither, or both. It's your millenium...

This is a default project that could service your needs for all four crits this quarter. It's a broad-ranging assignment - with plenty of room for your own input - about re-working the conventions of the photographic image from a millennial [or just 'updated'] perspective.

*ALTERNATIVELY: Customize assignments with your Section Instructor.
