Vitriol 2001

2.5x2.5x4 flea market antique collection of glassware, etched text.
National Glass Centre, Sunderland, England.

Collected texts, locally researched football jokes, are etched onto the surface of drinking glasses. The jokes reveal regional competition and ribaldry in the British Isles, and specifically, the important social and cultural role of football in northern U.K. The collection of glasses ranges from Giorgian antiques to Lady Di memorabilia.
