3,500 square feet, City Hall, Ventura - wood, fabric, projection, glass, audio
A performative site-specific installation in the former womenÕs jail, located on the top floor of the1910 Ventura City Hall. The only remnants of its former use are evident in the flooring divisions. Its fourteen large windows that usually have ocean views are covered with blue and red cloth, the symmetrical space divided into two distinct spaces. Glass dominoes are methodically arranged on the floor by two women while projected images of views from a precipice glance across the floor. An audio recording of the falling glass pieces echoes intermittently through the cement chamber. The installation/performance lasted only 10 hours. During that time, the light changed from filtered daylight to projected light.
