Loie Hollowell is an emerging artist living in Queens, New York. Of Hollowell’s current paintings, Martha Schwenderer recounts in the New York Times*, “Countering the myth of “pure” abstraction, Ms. Hollowell steps into the historical lineage of painters like O’Keeffe and Ms. Chicago, who were often discounted or derided for making references to the body in their abstract work.” Loie has had solo exhibitions at 106 Green in Brooklyn, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in collaboration with Richmond International Airport in Richmond, Virginia, and at the Sacramento City College Kondos Gallery in Sacramento, CA. Group exhibitions include those at Páramo, Guadalajara, Mexico, El Museo de los Pintores Oaxaqueños in Oaxaca, Mexico, RISDI, Providence, RI, and Jeff Bailey Gallery in Hudson, NY.
